THE PERSON

Philip Gain: Born 17 December 1962. Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism from Dhaka university. Has extensively researched and written on marginalized communities, human rights and environment. Has experience of working as journalist and researcher in a daily newspaper in the USA and Yale University in USA. Recent experience includes running two projects (as program director) supported by the European Union for the last 6.5 years. Has authored, co-authored and edited more than 60 books, monographs, manuals and magazines. Extensively photographed marginalized communities and environment and has produced and directed 12 documentary films on forests, adivasis (ethnic communities), environment and culture. Has participated in numerous consultancies. An adjunct faculty at Independent University, Bangladesh from 2004.
